Dan on a road trip in Western Australia

Personal info

My hobbies include studying evolutionary biology and evolutionary psychology, geology, astronomy, cosmology, and physics.

I like to read, click here to see a list of books I have read.

I like working with my hands by building and restoring things. This page documents how I restored a 1978 Coronado sailboat.

I also like to write articles and letters for newspapers, TV shows and magazines. Click here to see a list of the letters that were published.

I've invented a number of algorithms, one, the Bullard Binary algorithm allows you to calculate the approximate value of 2 to the power of any large whole number, and I mean any BIG number, 40 digits, a hundred, a thousand digits. Learn how, it's really easy.

My favorite web site was Upstream, however it's gone so in the same realm is Stalking the Wild Taboo

Despite being a hard core, freedom loving conservative I have an environmental resume that will blow you away!

Favorite movies: Gladiator, Patriot, The Cowboys, Mister Roberts, Blazing Saddles, Aliens, Apollo 13, Gattaca.

Favorite movie quote: "Live every day as if it were going to be your last, for one day you're sure to be right" Breaker Morant

My attitude on success: "Shallow men believe in luck, strong men believe in cause and effect." Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Or, in poem form;

The Winds of Fate

One ship drives east and another drives west

With the selfsame winds that blow.

'Tis the set of the sails

And not the gales

Which tells us the way to go.

Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate,

As we voyage along through life:

'Tis the set of the soul

That decides its goal,

And not the calm or the strife.

Ella Wheeler Wilcox
